BIWC’s Summer Highlights 2017

Visits:

  • a guided tour in English of the exhibition From Hopper to Rothko: America’s Road to Modern Art @ the new Barberini museum in Potsdam. Followed by lunch @ nearby L’Osteria
  • the International Garden Exhibition in Marzahn
  • the exhibition “The Green Prince and the Empress” @ Babelsberg Palace including a walk around the park
  • the Waterworks in Friedrichshagen
  • an open-air concert @ Kloster Chorin

Sports:

  • join the body sculpting group: cardiovascular, stretching & strength-training exercises to burn calories, increase flexibility and tone muscles. Fun-Fitness & Pilates will take place as usual
  • sign up for a cycle ride from SBahnhof Grünau to Erkner. During the ride, the group will also visit the Gerhard-Hauptmann-Haus
  • BIWC’s tennis group will continue to enjoy the outdoor tennis season
  • the two walking groups will be rounding the Schlachtensee, followed by refreshments in the Fischerhütte

Treats:

  • Kool Kiez will be dining at the Restaurant Marcellino in July and @ Olivengarten in August
  • Business Lunch will be dining @ Wirtshaus an der Rehwiese in July
  • end of summer BBQ at a member’s home in Storkow
  • Dolden Mädel Braugasthaus in Kreuzberg
  • Penny’s 10th annual tea party. Proceeds will be donated to the Hestia Frauenhaus.

Talks:

  • Member Nina will give a talk on the subject of The Berlin-Russian Community, past and present
  • New Zealand for Travellers, not tourists. BIWC member Donella spent 7 weeks there in 2015. The talk will be followed by pot-luck afternoon tea.
    Both activities will be hosted @ members’ homes

Language Groups:

The English, German, French & Spanish language groups will continue to meet regularly throughout the summer months
