German Sports Badge

In category: Club News.

Since 1912 people of all ages have been training to win the German Sports Badge. The German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) presents this award to more than 900,000 people a year.  Whether swimming, cross-country skiing or maybe weight lifting, the athletes must prove their prowess in five different disciplines.

Are you fit enough to take the challenge? Take a look at the Requirements Table below to find out if your best time in jogging is fast enough or if you can heave the shot the required distance.  Those with disabilites have special requirements according to their physical abilities.

We have an agreement with the Berlin sports club ASV (near Hauptbahnhof) for BIWC members and their families to take the test for the Deutsches Sportabzeichen.  In 2008 ASV was awarded a prize for their work integrating all participants – young and old, top athletes as well as late beginners, those with disabilities and those from all ethnic backgrounds..

Your training for the Sportabzeichen and the tests are free of charge.  There is a small fee for the certificate and the badge of around 3 €.

The Sportabzeichen is open to everyone from the age of 8 to 80+.  Training is on Mondays from 16.30-18.00.  Come alone or invite your whole family and some friends to enjoy training together for an official German medal.
