English Comedy Night :

Kookaburra, der Comedy-Club in Berlin
Kim along with a line-up of hilarious talent every first and Third Tuesday of the month.  Absolute insanity served with a side of fresh musical interludes - and its All in english!
Each show has a special guest, direct from the U.K. or the U.S. as well as regular comedy stars: Tamara Ingram, Kai Eikermann, Sanjay Shihora, David Cassel, Rey Melara and super acts from the world of variety and music comedy

The over 120 paintings and drawings on display in the Martin-Gropius-Bau will be the most extensive exhibition of Frida Kahlo’s oeuvre to date.

It will contain works never before seen and assumed to be lost. A particular highlight will be the last work of Frida Kahlo, here to be seen for the first time. There will also be approximately 70 drawings, some of them hitherto unpublished.

The loans come from Mexican private collections, North American museums and prominent collections in the USA.

SUMMER IN BERLIN
 
Berliners – of all ages – traditionally enjoy outdoor festivals, fairs and street festivities.
 
48th German-French Fair (Deutsch-Franzoesisches Volksfest)
Until Wednesday, 14 July
The "village" backdrops reflect the essence of a French region. Typical French wines and culinary specialities as well as soft drinks and ice cream are available at reasonable prices. There is a wide variety of entertainment – including fairground rides – for every age!
 
Venue: Zentraler Festplatz (Central Fairground), Kurt-Schumacher-Damm 207 in Berlin- Reinickendorf. 
Hours: Sundays from 14.00 to 23.00; Mondays to Thursdays from 15.00 to 23.00; Fridays & Saturdays from 15.00 to 24.00.
Cost: Usually 1.5 € per person; children under 14 – free.
Getting there: S41 or U7 to Jungfernheide and then bus M21 to the Zentraler Festplatz. There is ample parking in the vicinity and at the fair grounds
 
50th German-American Fair (Deutsch-Amerikanische Volksfest)
Friday, 23 July until Sunday, 15 August
The first German-American Fair (Volksfest) opened its doors on 29 July 1961. It ended on 13 August 1961 – the same day the Berlin Wall went up.
Nonetheless, the fair took hold in Berlin and has become an integral part of Berlin's outdoor festival calendar. Each year the festival presents a mix of modern and historical aspects of American life. This year's theme is: "50 States, 50 Volksfests".
Enjoy 300 hours of live music, fun, elections of Miss and Mister German-American Volksfest, American-style foods, American (and German) beer and wine, soft drinks, ice cream, and fairground rides – rain or shine! 
 
Venue: Truman-Plaza – corner of Clayallee and Hüttenweg in Berlin-Zehlendorf. 
Hours: Sundays to Thursdays from 14.00 to 23.00; Fridays and Saturdays from 14.00 to 24.00. Wednesdays (usually) – half-price on the rides! 
Cost: 2 € per person; children under 14, free.
Getting there: U3 or buses X10, M11, 110, 115, 285, or 623 to Oskar-Helene-Heim station. There is limited parking in the vicinity.
 
Sandsation
Until Sunday, 29 August
This is the only urban sand art festival in Europe. Visit the huge sand sculptures carved by twenty artists. The festival has a new venue, and the theme this year is: "Head in Sand"!

Citadel Music Festival
Until Tuesday, 31 August
The open-air festival at Spandau Citadel will cover rock, pop and classical music. Amongst the musicians this year will be Patti Smith and her band as well as Gregorian – Masters of Chant who will perform against a historical background.
 
 
19th Classic Open Air Music Festival at Gendarmenmarkt
Thursday, 15 to Sunday, 20 July
Each summer since 1992, the Gendarmenmarkt becomes a vast concert arena. It is a magical backdrop for musical performances. The concert series attracts countless visitors and artists. The programme ranges from German to Italian opera and operetta, and includes crossoverproductions with classics of pop, soul, swing and jazz.

Special Exhibition: Allied Museum
Until Sunday, 29 August.
The Allied Museum's current special exhibition – "Wall Patrol" was mounted to honour the twentieth anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.
The display showcases the everyday life of the British, French and American units whose task it was – between 1961 and 1990 – to maintain minute observation of the situation along the Berlin Wall and the fortifications on the GDR border. Their presence was a daily reminder of the core objective: to preserve the freedom of West Berlin.
 
Berlin Historical Association
BHA holds monthly lectures with experts in their fields and visits places of historical interest in and around Berlin.
●Saturday, 10 July – Walking tour to "Places of Remembrance: The Jews of Schoeneberg" with BIWC/BHA member Ginger van der Linden. 
●Thursday, 22 July the lecture will consider: "The making of a contemporary history exhibition". 
●Saturday, 31 July – BHA will explore "Queen Luise's Island World" with an English-speaking guide. 
●Saturday, 14 August there will be a visit to the Federal Chancellery (Bundeskanzleramt)
