Lucy Jacobs from the USA

Lucy Jacobs_Former BIWC PresidentFor many years, I coordinated the Business Women’s Group together with Beth Henschel and one of the Neighbourhood Groups together with Angela Anderson. Then I was approached to take over as Vice President for the person who was moving away. I’ll never forget the feeling when the President at the time, Ann Ourmazd, approached me. I was thrilled and honored to be considered for such a role in the Club. I never dreamed at the time that this role would culminate in my being the President for a full 3 terms. After serving as President, I was the Newsletter Editor for many years, a role which I also thoroughly enjoyed.

I encourage new members to dive in and get active – it’s the best way to meet new people and make new friends. If you have a talent, don’t be shy to share it with Club members. Dedication is the best way to give back to our wonderful organization.

There were so many wonderful events! Thinking back, it is simply incredible how many fantastic events we have organised and enjoyed – starting with the legendary Cocktail Parties and AGM meetings, visits to embassies and other institutions. The cooking classes at Bewag, Gasag and the Schloßpark Klinik! I still use the recipes handed out at those events! The numerous lectures by professional women, inspiring and educating us. Countless, simply countless memorable experiences!  One of my favorite events was the Open Day at Tempelhof Airport and also the Liederabend at Wannsee Golf Glub. They seem to really stick in my mind.
