Visit to art galleries in Mitte
Many people have visited the modern art exhibitions at the Museum for Contemporary Art in the Hamburger Bahnhof, but have you ever taken a walk behind the museum? There are a series of small galleries showing the work of international modern artists, including many young unknowns and the better-known Damien Hirst. Nearby is a food store called Mitte Meer, which offers delicacies from cheese to wine and all kinds of frozen and fresh fish.
We will look around the various galleries and stroll through the food store, ending up at the Sarah Wiener restaurant and café in the Hamburger Bahnhof for refreshments and a chat.
► Meeting Point: Large sign for Mitte Meer at the left of the entrance to the Hamburger Bahnhof, Invalidenstr. 50-51, Berlin-Mitte
►Getting there: U- and S-Bahn Hauptbahnhof; buses M41, 120, 147, 245. The Museum, noted for its blue neon lights, is a short walk east from the Hauptbahnhof.
