Festive Event speech by Sylvia Verhallen-Roomberg, Vice-President BIWC
Ladies and gentlemen , members and guests. Allow me to start with a tribute to the organizers of this Event in their native language Spanish.
Estimadas socias del BIWC, Señoras y señores
Siguiendo la tradicion del BIWC, nos encontramos esta noche aqui reunidos para celebrar una vez mas nuestro evento social de fin de año; organizado esta vez por las socias de habla hispana. Quiero agradecer a Cristina Kubisch-Acosta y Connie Kindermann-Forero por su excelente trabajo en la organizacion del evento!
Al mismo tiempo quiero darles las gracias a las siguientes miembros quienes trabajaron tambien en esta celebracion:

Ladies and gentlemen It is my honour to announce that our valued member Cecilia Schulze has given birth to a son last Saturday and therefore she can’t personally be here to receive her thank you rose.. I would like to ask Cecilia’s mother, Marguarita Leanza, to please come forward.
Last but not least: I would like to thank Agnieszka Tilk , Jennifer Hankammer and Annette Arnold our Social Events Team.

Dear ladies and gentlemen, members and guests!
A very very welcome to all of you to this last social event of the year 2010.
The board of the BIWC and our Spanish Speakers are very happy with this enormous outcome. It is so good to see all of you here, to have such a large participation.
We are a Club of volunteers and have proven over the years that we are very capable of letting members and often also prospective members and guests feel at home in Berlin, our lovely home away from home.
In order to maintain this, I would like to encourage you all to consider one of the positions that open up for the next Club year. The positions are fun, you learn lots, and you will make even more friends than you ever imagined by participating in the BIWC.
I think I can say that we, the women of the BIWC, have proven that working together in a democratic way is enjoyable and productive. In this time of day, confronted by issues involving integration and terrorist-warnings it is important to show the world how we women, at the moment spanning 53 nationalities, do great things together.
A recent example is the Fashion Show, our Charity event, where we raised approximately 11.000 euro for the Frauenhaus charity.And this is just one of the many activities organized by the BIWC.
I am very proud of all you club members and feel honoured to have the opportunity to tell you.
I already thanked our Spanish Team and Social Events Team, but I would also like to thank the Fashion Show Team again and of course all of you for being an example and making all of this possible.
Furthermore, I would like to take the opportunity to wish you all, members and guests, very happy holidays and a new year in good health, full of success and good luck.
