Tanz ist KLASSE! and the Staatsballett Berlin invites the BIWC to the new rooms of the Deutsche Oper Berlin to experience an exciting and entertaining day of discovering a Shakespearen classic: Romeo & Juliet.
In the morning, we have a workshop with dance teacher and dramaturge, Kathlyn Pope. To prepare us for the evening‘s performance, she will discuss the plot, introduce the characters, and introduce the moves of the dancers in a new way, particularly by executing the dance moves ourselves! Afterwards, we will lunch at the Deutsche Oper canteen. Food and drinks are at one‘s own expense.
In the evening, we‘ll have a rare chance to meet Dr. Christiane Theobald, Staatsballett Berlin ‘s deputy and director of operations, for a glass of sparkling wine and a tour of the rehearsal halls and premises. Dr. Theobald launched Tanz ist KLASSE! to realize the dream of great dancer and former ballet director Gert Reinholm—that children and youth, regardless of social class and cultural background—should be given access to dance.
As a climax to the day, we shall watch the ballet performance of Romeo and Juliet.
This event is open to partners and guests, young and old. Members may take the workshop or watch the ballet but we strongly recommend attending both to complete this unique experience.

►Cost: 10 € for the Workshop. 28 € OR 48 € for the Ballet Show with Champagne Reception, to be transferred to the BIWC account with payment code ―ROMEO AND JULIET‖. (Price differential due to seating.)
