Women in Berlin: The Untold Story

Thursday, 15 July at 10.00

How would you like to learn about the women in Berlin’s history, while enjoying the long-awaited summer with a pleasant stroll around our fabulous city? Put on those comfortable walking shoes and get ready for an informative and entertaining walking tour that focuses on the often overlooked contribution of women to Berlin’s history. On this tour, we will look at the history of modern Berlin through its famous (and not so famous) women, such as Rosa Luxemburg and Marlene Dietrich. This tour also narrates the greatest battle of all times, the battle for gender equality. Our English-speaking guide will lead us in exploring the great achievements and struggles of the women of Berlin, and its minority groups. The tour will end at a café where we can sit and chat over refreshments.

►Meeting Point: Starbucks Coffee Shop at Pariser Platz, by Brandenburg Gate.
►Cost: 7 € to be transferred to the BIWC account with payment code “WOMEN IN BERLIN”.
►Register:  Registration is still open while slots are still available. To register, email SocialEvents@biwc.de or send bank transfer confirmation to Jenny Hankammer.

We remind all participants to wear comfortable walking shoes as we will be going around a vast area.

We had reserved a table at the Fassbender & Rausch after the tour.

When we go to the cafe after the tour, the first coffee or tea or glass of soft drink or water will be complimentary.

“Tea tempers the spirit and harmonizes the mind; dispels lassitude and relieves fatigue, awakens thought and prevents drowsiness.”-Lu Yu, the Sage of Tea, wrote “The Classic of Tea”, 703-844.

What is indeed in a bag of tea? What effect does it have on our body and moods?

Let’s “tee off” autumn with a blast! Join us at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Hotel as its certified tea master Sandra Rosenmüller, one of only three tea masters in Berlin, leads us through the wonderful world of teas. With her rare expertise, we will learn a lot not only about this marvelous drink, but also about the lasting benefits of regular tea consumption on our health. We will be presented with a vast number of tea varieties with complimentary Danish pastries in one of the hotel’s private and relaxing function rooms. After this professional tea tasting event, we can stay in the venue to continue enjoying the company of our BIWC friends and simply have a good time.

If a hotel tour is your “cup of tea”, please come in at 16.00.

►Meeting Point: For the hotel tour – hotel lobby. For the tea seminar – Salon Ponte Murano.
►Cost: 25 € for members, 27 € for guests, to be transferred to the BIWC account with payment code “TEA EVENT”.
