The Turkish Market

Since the school kitchen is closed during July, let's visit the legendary Turkish Market that stretches the canal on the border of “Kreuzkölln”. Berlin has the largest Turkish population outside of Turkey and this market is located at the center of Turkish immigrant life in Berlin. The vendors shout their prices and people jostle about for the freshest fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, a dizzying selection of cheeses, an array of fabrics and notions, flowers, fish, meats and more. This popular market is only open on Tuesdays and Fridays. Wear a comfy pair of shoes and bring your shopping bag! We will meet rain or shine.

►Venue: The Turkish Market
►Getting there: U1 to Kottbusser Tor. We will meet in front of Commerzbank outside the station. From there it is a short walk to the market.

The Tasting Table – Honey

Honey is one of the oldest foods and was even found in the Pharaoh’s tombs. It is mentioned dozens of times in the Quran and Bible. It never spoils and international law stipulates that honey can never be added to. Today we’ll have a special ‘tasting table’ of honey and discover some different aromas and flavors that Mother Nature has created in purest form. And of course, woman cannot live on honey alone so we’ll switch to afternoon tea mode and enjoy some sweet and savoury treats made with honey, naturally!

Venue: confirmed on registration
Cost: 15 €
