The weather is cooling down, and our Club activities are heating up again! Join us for your choice of Berlin tours, foreign-language conversation groups, walking groups, restaurant meals together, book groups, a craft group … See old and new friends, and enjoy your city!

Get Out and Explore

Tuesday, 6 September and Thursday, 8 September  Two opportunities to tour the East Side Gallery—the longest surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall, covered with the work of artists who were invited in 1990 to share their reactions to the fall of the Wall. One of the original artists will be our guide!

Wednesday, 14 September A walk through Weißensee, home to the oldest urban nature sanctuary in Europe, fascinating architecture from the early 20th century, and other interesting features.

Friday, 16 September A visit to the Villencolonie Lichterfelde West, founded in 1865. See the imaginative historicist architecture of the late 19th century: a Tuscan country house or a small gothic fortess nestled in quiet, leafy streets in southwestern Berlin.

Tuesday, 20 September Visit to the Knoblauchhaus Museum, one of the few remaining 18th-century houses in Berlin. A glimpse of the life of a well-to-do family in the Biedermeier era, with insights into the political, social and economic context of the time.

Friday, 23 September Tour of Charlottenhof Palace (left)–a Christmas present from King Friedrich Wilhelm III to his son–and the Roman baths in a lovely garden setting in Potsdam.

Eat, Drink, and Enjoy

Friday, 2 September The Club’s major summer event: Dinner under the linden trees at the Alter Krug, Dahlem—a historic in with great rustic flair.

Thursday, 15 September Let’s have a party! Share food and conversation and—we hope–a little autumn sunshine at potluck party in the home of one of our members.

Wednesday, 21 September Lunch at Friedhard’s restaurant in Lichterfelde. German and Alpine cuisine with seasonal and regional specialties.

Thursday, 29 September Business Lunch at Patrice. Innovative French cooking in a small restaurant hidden on a quiet side street in Wilmersdorf.

Talk About Books
