Thank you to Business Lunch Coordinator Carol for choosing such a great venue for the return of Business Lunch activities after such a long break:

Tim Raue’s Brasserie Colette in Passauer Straße.

The first ten lucky members to register met up for a wonderful lunch @ this delightful venue. Unfortunately, this was the maximum number of diners allowed to share a table in the restaurant. Eight disappointed members were on the waiting list.

Menu:

In advance, we could choose a two- or three-course meal from the menu which changes every two weeks.

Starters:

  • salad with goat’s cheese and walnuts
  • liver from corn-fed rabbit, sherry jelly & calamansi
  • carrot salad with orange, tarragon & mimolette
  • mushroom consommé

Mains:

  • corn-fed chicken in a mole, lime & red bean sauce, with grilled cabbage
  • char with carrot & cardamom
  • Parisian gnocchi with comté, grape and bitter almonds
  • black pudding & braised cucumber with capers, lemon and potatoes

Desserts:

  • three macaroons
  • sorbet selection

10 BIWC Members @ Business Lunch @ Brasserie Colette_16.09.2021The service was a bit slow as the restaurant was well-frequented primarily by businessmen in suits and ties enjoying a leisurely lunch hour. A very attentive waitress stilled our pre-meal appetites with plenty of crunchy fresh bread, rounds of butter and Tim Raue’s personal cornichons. My fears that maybe we were only going to be served bread for lunch were allayed. When the food did arrive, the portions were surprisingly large and extremely tasty, for me an unusual combination of flavours, and the price of the three-course meal a reasonable €29. I did dinner-cancelling that evening!

As ever, there was a high volume of chatting going on at our table but the male guests didn’t seem to mind. For me, a definite lunch-time recommendation with the added pleasure of going shopping afterwards @ nearby KaDeWe (maybe not good if you’re trying on clothes on a full stomach but ideal if you’re shopping on the 6th floor :-)) There’s a lot of construction work going on in the street but the KaDeWe underground car park was virtually empty.
